Catherine Kirk (she/her) is a performing and teaching artist raised on the unceded land of the Kiickaapoi and Wichita peoples, now known as Dallas, Texas. Inspired by dreams of Black liberation through rest as an entry point to actionable change, Catherine creates socially complex and energetically charged environments with strong reference to the fleeting virality within today’s pop culture and social movements. Her movement is anchored in release, improvisation, a short attention span, and her leisurely, southern ancestral groove.

She has a BFA in dance from New York University, gained her yoga certification through The Perri Institute for Mind and Body, and is Reiki certified.

Catherine has created work for installation spaces, commercials, and short films. She presented two solo works as an Artist-in-Residence at Art Cake Brooklyn (2020) and Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation (2021) and she curated an evening for Chez Bushwick’s "RECESS" (2023). Catherine has worked as a dancer/collaborator with Ogemdi Ude, Rochelle Jamila, Sidra Bell Dance New York, UNA Produtions by Chuck Wilt, Jasmine Hearn, Burr Johnson, and Helen Simoneau, and is featured in the award-winning Netflix series, Halston and the Showtime series, Ziwe. She has performed works by an array of choreographers including Bebe Miller, Sharon Eyal, Doug Varone, Keerati Jinakunwiphat, and Andrea Miller. Catherine danced for A.I.M by Kyle Abraham for 11 years and worked as their company’s Marketing Associate. She continues to restage A.I.M company works across American Universities and Dance Companies today and is currently dancing for Rashaun + Silas and is in her third year with Trisha Brown Dance Company.
