Ailey Experience

Ailey Experience was created to share the Ailey legacy with dancers of all levels, no audition required, across the country and at our home in New York City.

Participants train in a variety of techniques while learning the rich history of Alvin Ailey’s signature style and how he changed the perception of American modern dance. Classes are led by renowned Ailey instructors, prominent NYC choreographers, and former Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater dancers.

The Ailey Experience Tour provides dancers ages 8+ the opportunity to take classes in their hometown during weekend-long workshops in the winter and spring. The tour culminates in Ailey Experience NYC, a two-week event for ages 8–21 hosted at The Joan Weill Center for the Dance every summer.
