Fredrick Earl Mosley is Founder/Director of Diversity of Dance Inc., which encompasses programs including Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts (EMIA), Hearts of Men, and Dancing Beyond. A part of EMDOD’s mission is not only to educate and entertain but also to use dance to enhance and enrich lives, even in the most adverse circumstances. EMIA, a four-week annual summer intensive that began in 2005, is held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island.  Hearts of Men is an intensive that uses dance to empower and cultivate a safe space where male identifying participants of all ages can bond in a community of brotherly love. Mosley has applied his philosophy of “giving back” to the creation of a winter program called Earl Mosley’s Dancing Beyond, a fundraiser that donates proceeds to the American Cancer Society.

Mosley’s choreographic credits include creations for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, American Ballet Theatre Studio Company, Dance Against Cancer Galas, New Jersey Ballet, PONYBOX Dance Theater, and Dallas Black Theatre. Mosley has also choreographed at schools including Marymount Manhattan College, Muhlenberg College, The Joffrey Ballet Trainee Program, Rosie’s Theater Kids, National Dance Institute, Dance Institute of Washington, Montclair State University, The Ailey School, Hofstra University, Rutgers University, and numerous other universities and institutions both nationally and internationally. Mosley’s work has been performed at the New York City Center, the National College Dance Festival in Washington DC, The Kennedy Center, The Joyce Theater, BAM, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and Lincoln Center Out of Doors.

Mosley was awarded Teacher of the Year by Dance Teacher magazine in 2005. He received the Outstanding Artists Award from the Connecticut Dance Alliance in 2012 in recognition of his commitment and love of mentoring and encouraging young dancers to reach for their dreams. In 2016, Mosley received the Mid-Career Award from the prestigious Martha Hill Dance Fund, and in 2018, he received the Elisa Monte Lifetime Achievement Award. He was the 2022 Muhlenberg College Theater and Dance Department’s Baker Artist in Residence, and the 2021-2022 National Dance Institute Helen Stambler Neuberger Artist in Residence. Most recently, he received the 2025 Jose Limon Foundation Award for Innovation in Education.

Mosley has also received numerous grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Connecticut Department of Education.

Mosley believes in diversity in art and the life experiences that each person brings to the process of creating dance that entertains, educates, and heals the human spirit. Find more information at Diversityofdance.org
