Celebrate National Dance Day at the Museum of the City of New York in partnership with AILEY!
Join us for an unforgettable celebration of community and social dance in New York during two high-energy dance classes open to all ages, inspired by the exhibition Urban Stomp: Dreams & Defiance on the Dance Floor, now on view. First, learn New York-style mambo basics with renowned dancer Katherine Jiménez, then dive into hip hop dance and culture with the Bronx’s own TweetBoogie—no dance experience required.
Don’t miss out on this inspiring day of joy and movement! Join us for one or both sessions. Participation is first come first serve.

This event is free on the front terrace of the museum!

About the Museum
The Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city’s history, art, popular culture, and civic life, highlighting New York’s influence worldwide. Founded in 1923 as a private, nonprofit corporation, the Museum serves hundreds of thousands of visitors annually from around the world through exhibitions, school and public programs, publications, and collections.
About the Instructors
Katherine Jiménez is an international dance performer, instructor, choreographer, and entrepreneur. Born in New York City, Katherine began her dance training with The Ailey School Junior Division at a young age. She had the opportunity to continue her training, start teaching, and graduate from Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS). Katherine has performed at New York City Center, The United Palace, and Lincoln Center with artists such as Tony Vega, Johnny Pacheco, Andy Montanez, Marvin Santiago, Willie Colon, Charanga America, and many others. In addition to teaching, choreographing, and performing, Katherine has also been a judge for the World Salsa Summit and she was a featured dancer for the 2021 film In the Heights.
Always representing the Boogie Down Bronx, TweetBoogie “Tweetie” is devoted to the street styles of hip hop. Her passion has led her to work with artists like Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Shakira, Kanye West, Jasmine Sullivan, Nicki Minaj, and Janet Jackson. TweetBoogie choreographed for 50 Cent's 2022 Green Light Gang World Tour and Mary J. Blige’s 2022 Good Morning Gorgeous Tour. Tweetie is a graduate of LaGuardian High School for the Performing Arts and she was the host of MTV's "Dances From Tha Hood," executive produced by Sway Calloway. She has been a guest artist and performer for Red Bull and Red Bull Connect and worked as a teaching artist and judge for the Juste Debout 2019 Global Tour, one of the biggest international underground dance battles.
